A very short and early landrace from Colombia that hails from altitudes of sea level up to 820 feet. Medium length ears bear the nice shade of a dark blue-purple with light kernels occurring. It is found along the northern coastal plain in the Departments of Atlantico, Magdalena, and Guajira. It is not greatly grown, only by a few farmers for its unusual color as well as to make a special type of bread known as "Bollo". Bollo is made either from the grain in the green dough stage or from dry corn meal.
