Exclusive Hybrids
Besides working with growing these beautiful corn races, I also do breeding with them. I breed with only the landraces and heirlooms, no GMO corn. I am breeding for productivity and short season maturity and also disease resistance. These hybrids listed below, which are named, are stabilized. The others are part of a special program I have started with Susan Catt in Silverton, Colorado. We are aiming for an alpine condition tolerant sweet corn as well as pop corn, with emphasis on the sweetcorn. A few varieties do exist for short season, but they are not cold tolerant or able to grow and survive at the altitudes (Susan is at 10,000 feet, like many of the landraces originate from). Even actual GMO corn will not grow where she is! This Alpine Corn Breeding Program is at its early stages, as I am still breeding more hybrids this year. However, the hybrids below that are unnamed will be sent to her in April and planted for her first round of both testing and selection for tolerance at her elevation as well as climate.
These hybrids are offered here for the first time and exclusively as well.
