A landrace from Guatemala that is practically unheard of besides down there. Nal-Tel, an ancient landrace popcorn from Mexico, found its way down to Guatemala where it has evolved into 5 distinct subraces. This race is one of those 5. An early landrace, usually about 90 days till silking, and reaching heights of 4-5 feet. Usually an ear or two per stalk that are 4-5 inches long with 10-14 rows of yellow kernels. Amarillo Tierra Baja hails from the Departments of Chiqimula, Jutiapa, and Baja Verapaz at altitudes of 1500-3650 feet. This a lowland landrace of the Nal-Tel subraces complex.
