Grown at elevations from to almost 4000-8200 feet, this is a beautiful landrace and was also the main one grown by the Incas at Machu Picchu. Yes, the very city the beautiful monument is at! It is considered quite tall and is usually planted in October and harvested in February where it comes from. The long ears have somewhat transparent kernels in shades of white with red and pink as well a light orange and yellow kernels. It's used boiled to make tamales and milled/ground to be made into a mush.
