A very large eared landrace corn from Mexico. This is considered the largest eared corn in the world. The stalky plants reach towering heights, from 10-16 feet depending on soil and location. It is considered late maturing but I have grown it out and had it make before frost. Best planted when the days are shortening or the heat is really high. The ears, reaching lengths of 1 to 2 feet, have white kernels and are often part of a Jala Festival in Mexico where farmers try to grow the largest ear. This is an extremely rare landrace, only being found in the Jala Valley of Nayarit, Mexico. Due to this and GMOs as well as other hybrids, Jala is very rarely found in its pure form.
