Another large kernelled floury landrace from Peru. Medium short stalks averaging 4-5 feet tall have intermediate maturity. Most commonly 8 rows but some also have 10 on 4-5 inch long ears with wide, very thick, pointed and long kernels in a various pattern of colors. Some are striped like candy while others are solid red, white, yellow, greenish, and mixed hues. This landrace has its center of distribution in the Department of Huancavelica, hence where its name originates. It also extends into Cuzco, Apurimac, Ayachucho, and Junin with a northerly limit of Ancash at altitudes of 7000-11,000 feet.
