Considered medium height, but the plants usually get tall and are generally early in maturity. A rare landrace being only collected in the Department of Magdalena, it usually has deep blue colored kernels but some of my collection has white, pink, and lighter colored kernels. The name is of Indian origin and its meaning is unknown, since the Indians who grow it speak no actual Spanish.
