Another very rare, never before offered primitive and ancestral landrace corn from Peru. This popcorn is derived from Confite Morocho and reaches about 5 feet tall with 3-4 ears, sometimes more if one is injured. This popcorn is more widely grown but is high elevation native in the Andes. The Cuzco Indians in Peru call it Chili-Sara, Quechua for "Old Corn" which refers to its primitiveness. This race holds a very likeness to Palomero Tolequeño from Mexico, creating a possible center of origin in the Central Andes for both. It is grown in small plots besides floury corn fields for direct consumption. Usually a white popcorn, but floury forms also exist just as with Confite Morocho. Confite means popcorn and puntiagudo means pointed, referring to the kernels.
