A rather rare landrace that varies in colors from white, yellow, red, to different shades of orange. Originating in the mountainous area of south-central Jalisco and northern Colima from the upper limit of corn cultivation where the mountainous meet the plains of Jalisco. Resulting from an inter-hybridization of three landraces, one being Palomero Tolqueno and the other being two flour corns. The plants are often very late and frost resistant and is used for making snacks like tortilla chips.
