A very tall landrace that has a very unusual and special purpose from where it comes from. The medium sized ears have floury kernels that usually have blue, brownish, bronze, and yellow colors. The cornmeal is ground and used to mix with chocolate to create a special beverage hence its name of Cacao. Found principally in the Department of Santander, but also extends into Norte de Santander and Boyaca as wellas Cundinamarca. It also extends into Venezeuala but is most widely grown in Colombia where it originated.
