Corn. Another Guarani Indian flour corn. Short plants reaching 3-4.5 feet tall bear usually 3 , 4-5 inch long ears of 8-rowed, yellow and black kernels. A very productive landrace that is also quite early, usually tasseling and silking in around 60 days. A lovely flour corn, this landrace was created from the Guarani Indians desire to have a early maturing flour corn as opposed to the later maturing corns they already had. It is used for human consumption, flour for breads, and even in the milk stage although the ears are small. Best as a flour corn. Mita means child or small, referring the short plant and its maturity. The earliest corn in Paraguay.
