Corn. One of the indigenous landraces of corn of the forest dwelling Guarani Indians in southern Brazil, Paraguay, and parts of Bolivia and Argentina. This tribe has only cultivated certain corns, maintaining these corns in the same state as they were in Pre-Colombian times (they have remained not greatly disturbed at all from the peoples who arrived after 1492). This landrace is the ceremonial corn of the Guarani Tribe, lacking any sort of yellow color at all, which is very odd since almost all their corns have yellow as a base color. The reason for this lack of yellow is not understood, but it is regardless a very important and sacred corn to the tribe. It is used in ceremonies mostly to send prayers and help bring a good harvest for the current season as well as the next season when the corns are in milk stage. Reaches around 4-5 feet tall with at least two ears that average 6 inches long and have white, blue, red, and mixed color kernels.
